STA Abstract Submission Guidelines
Guidlines Applicable to Submissions for all STA Meetings:
- Abstracts may not have been published previously.
- Abstracts should be brief, typically less than 250 words.
- Submit either ASCII text or an MS Word document.
- Limited to one page with imbedded graphics.
- Submitted via the Internet using the online submission form - see each
meeting below.
- Abstracts are peer-reviewed according to the following criteria:
- originality, importance, methods, analysis, results, conclusions, general interest
and writing quality.
- Authors will be notified of review decision within 2 weeks of submission.
- Presenting authors are required to pay conference registration and expenses.
Poster boards are 8' x 4' tack boards; push pins are provided.
- Demonstrations may be provided with a table and electricity if requested;
any additional equipment is the responsibility of the presentor.
- Accepted abstracts are published in the STA supplement
of the STA's official journal, Anesthesia & Analgesia (unless the author
notes otherwise on the submission form).

Deadline: Rolling deadline extended until December 31, 2008.

- Advances in anesthesia and anesthesia technology.
- Information systems.
- Computer use in education, training, research, patient care and management.
- Telemedicine in Anesthesia.
- Drug Delivery technology.
- Patient Safety.
- Bioscience and bioengineering.
- Education.
- Uses of computers in patient care, practice management, and education.
- Software and hardware innovations.
- Internet, intranet, websites for use in education, training, publishing.
Formats: Poster, demonstration and selected oral.
Hours: Posters to be on display 7:00 am Thursday - 12:00 noon Saturday.
Presentations: Selected authors will be invited to orally discuss their
abstracts (3-4 minutes) in a Thursday morning session followed by open viewing
of all posters. All authors are required to be beside their posters during the
break following these oral sessions.
Awards: Three awards each receiving certificate and $100 Gift Certificate.
Abstract must be submitted prior to the December 15 deadline to be eligible
for an award.
Syllabus Publication: All accepted abstracts will be included in course
syllabus.
